As defined by Urban Dictionary as: The art of creating software while doing almost zero actual coding, by completely surrendering to AI tools.
In 2019, Apple's CEO Tim Cook said that coding is “the most important second language you can learn.”
I don't think he could make the same statement today.
Tools like Claude and Codex have made the art of coding irrelevant. Coding is a means to an end, you code to have a software tool that can be used for other purposes. I don't think anyone genuinely likes to code.
An example of how AI is going to create massive efficiency, Claude can accomplish in 5 minutes what a software coder can do in one hour. Being able to accomplish more, quicker, isn't the most significant disruptor. The real game changers is that with Claude or another text-to-code program, anyone can code. Computer (check), internet (check), power outlet (check). You're ready to code and create.
My mental image of a computer coder, empty Mountain Dew cans, a greasy keyboard from Doritos residue, DeGiorno pizza boxes stacked 6 high, a black hoodie pulled down tight around their head, can now be replaced by virtually anyone. Well, maybe not my dad.
This has democratized the process of creating software, and that will open up doors that were unimaginable.
What types of software will disappear with this revolution? Things like Adobe Photoshop or InDesign. You don't need a software program to add Snoop Dogg into a family photo.
Companies won't need Salesforce as a CRM. Its expensive and built to handle all kinds of businesses but lacks the ability to be customized just for your business. Build it yourself so that it does exactly what you want and in the future it can be modified, made even more effiective.

Why use Wix to create a new website that looks like every other Wix website. Now using a text base prompt-to-site tools, you can build exactly what you want.
If you are running a company and not reevaluating your software budget, you should be. What is irrelevant or what will soon be.
I bet its more than you think.
